BIG problem here though - Since they claim the apostles taught two hopes, why is there nothing in the NT saying only those with the "heavenly calling" should partake?"
Well thats a different point of view. I had not considered flipping it that way.
was at the kingdumb hell yesterday after a gap.. paragraph 11 planted the seed in the sheeples' heads for this.. remember last weeks study, where martha was quoted as saying: "i know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.
" (jo 11: 24) the term "last day" was explained as applying to the millennium, in the same way as "judgment day" for those receiving an earthly resurrection.. now for paragraph 11 - i noticed some bemused faces, as usually john 6 is avoided in articles discussing earthly resurrection:.
" "the bread that i shall give is my flesh," he said.

remember some of the garbage served at the district conventions?.
i was at the dollar store today and noticed they started carrying "shasta" cola.. i started laughing because they used to serve that skunk water at the district conventions when i was a kid.. they always brought in the cheapest, nastiest soda they could buy.. one year we had something called vess cola - that was actually worse than the shasta!
then, they ran out on sunday and had to buy pepsi from the local distributor - we were all rejoicing!!.
Why was everything always frozen? Did no one think to take it out of the freezer a little earlier? especially pudding and orange juice?

Speaking of fond memories, remember seeing people run for the line-up at lunch time? Some zealous witlesses would leave before the song would end, just to be the first in line.
Does that ever make me laugh. My dad would practically camp out if front of the cafeteria doors at the convention hall. We always ate first. We were always embarrassed of him but we had lots of time to "walk around " and around and around! LOL

hey!.
i went to my first meeting last week and, well, i guess i want to write some thoughts about how a meeting is for an 'outsider' :-) .
Your observations were much like my husbands the first time he went to Sunday meeting. He also felt that they were overly critical of other religions though and he found that very offensive. In a "We're better than them" sort of way.
I haven't been reading your past posts, so I don't know why you went to the meeting but I am curious if you will be going to more.
Eh?

I'm for it . This has always been a point of contetion between my mother and my unbeleiving husband. He did not want to go to the memorial because he felt guilty not partaking. He felt it showed indifference for Jesus ransom. My mother was always worried that he would have a nip.
After my husband raised that point with me I starting investigating it and it was probably the start of my descent as a R&F. I believe they would change it if they thought it would keep more people interested. It doesn't have to be logical it just has to be printable.
so we had our circuit assembly this past weekend, and it was the first one in my life that i told my wife i would not be attending.
we had a brief conversation on why, and she said well just go to this last one with me, and then when we can discuss what we learn and compare it to why you've been expressing your "new" feelings towards the wts.. i love my wife, and as much as i thought i was gonna hate it i decided to go.
now that i no longer want to be a jehovah's witness it really didnt bother me that nobody hardly talked to me despite me living in this same area for 4 1/2 years, everybody views me as spiritually weak because i dont go out in service, rarely attend meetings, dont comment, lesson is never underlined, so the "friends" never interact with me anyway and i'm use to it, actually that's the way i prefer it.
Wow, what a couple days you had.
I really feel for you. I am always amused when folks listen to the program and are thinking about others who they feel are in need of the council being given. So hypocritical.
I come from a family where one parent was not a witness and we were constantly being counciled about my father. He was viewed as the head of the household in secular things. However, my mother was our spiritual head. A sister is not free to leave her spouse unless her husband is stopping her from serving Jehovah. As long as you support her feelings and her desire to worship in her own way, she really has no scriptural reason to leave you. That being said it seems people move on fairly easily these days and if you already have an apartment in mind, I wonder if you are at least thinking of leaving your marriage. Be prepared if you do decide to tell her everything you have learn about the BOrg , witnesses are trained to veiw apostacy as if they are being vomitted on and will most likely fight back.
I wish you peace.
I have several witnesses on my facebook page also and am very curious to see if they slowly disappear. I wonder if the mention of facebook and msn was in the talk outline or if some just choose to include it on their own. Has anyone else heard this council?
we rarely go.
but, we went because hubby wanted to tell the elders we are switching halls.. at first, i thought to myself that i would go out back with her when she gets fussy.
but, my baby doesn't really get fussy a lot so i just took her out back and played with her as she laughed hysterically.
As a young teenager I loved taking other people babies to the back of the hall. The mothers often had other toddlers to care for and appreciated a break. I would just stand back there and play with them or rock them if they were small. In fact there was almost a race between the young girls and the older women as to who would get to the babies first. Now looking back I wonder if some of those people were just trying to get out of having to listen.
As a mother now I can't imagine wasting any time standing at the back of the hall with my children. it seems stupid and cruel. They have to spend so much of their lives sitting and paying attention why not let them be free while they are so young. I went to the memorial 2 years ago with my 2 year old and hated it. No more. I can decline taking the emblems at home.
